Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering website redesign

As the Digital Marketing Manager at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering our team worked with Seven Heads Design to build a creative and bold website for the college. The objective was to build website that did a much better job of telling the CMU College of Engineering’s stories and enabling key audiences to act on what they learn. This excited me because it’s what all great web sites do; they tie specific business objectives to key performance metrics.

Throughout the project, I worked to ensure the design and development work provided an accessible website experience to all individuals using the site. More specifically, we aimed to meet the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA and Level AAA wherever practical. Rather than simply checking a box for “compliance,” we used a thorough testing process and recommended techniques to ensure the four key accessibility principles, POUR (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust), are adhered to with our design and code. I also worked to create a responsive website that was accessible on all platforms. In this example, you can see the same webpage viewed in different platforms.

I also worked with Daniel Mall, founder of Superfriendly, on project strategy and user experience of the new website. I facilitated kickoff and content strategy workshops for our various departments websites such as CMU Silicon Valley and MechE, I also conducted content requirement analysis and developed modules to inform the development of a content management system. The new website was designed to increase online engagement and simplify pathways to critical content.

Website for architectural design firm

Luca Design is an architecture firm that believes that each project has it's own set of unique needs, perspective, and challenges. The base  their design process on site, light, space, materials, and detail. I designed a website for them that would focus on their stunning work. The requirements were that the website needed to be easy to navigate and focus on the projects. I built an easy to use gallery for each project and used color to put the focus on the photography.

This is an example of the easy to use photo gallery that is built using a responsive framework. The gallery is easy to find and fills the users entire screen while in the mobile setting. Project information and details about the architecture are just one tap away.

The website was responsive and connected to an commerce shopping cart to collect event registration. I also created the 10th anniversary brand. More examples can be found in the branding section.
